It was founded in 1548 by Alfonso de Mendoza. Located at a narrow valley with a capricious and colorful topography, La Paz, also known as the “Highest Capital of the World” (3.200 m. high) A contrast city with its mixture of civilizations located in a magnificent mountain landscape, protected by the majestic snow mountain Illimani. About 50% or 60% of the population are descendants of Aymaras and Quechuas. The color and originality make La Paz a place to admire.
Access: By highway : From Puno, via Copacabana-La Paz and Puno-Desaguadero-La Paz, this last trip is only possible in private service, because vehicles are restricted and only for local service.
By air, there are daily flights from Lima (one in the morning and the other in the afternoon), and from Cusco, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.

2nd Day: Visit to the city and its typical markets, like the artisan, the famous witch and indigenous markets, churches of the colonial time, like San Francisco, Main Squares: Murillo Square, the Cathedral, Government Palace, National Congress and the colonial, we will continue with the visit to the Tiwanaco Culture Museum. The sceneries change when we visit the modern districts and the famous “Valley of the Moon” (rocky figures caused by the erosion). Lodging.

PROGRAM BASE II

3rd Day: One day excursion to Tiwanaku: visit to the temple of Kalasasaya and the underground temple, the Akapana pyramid, Pumapunku and the famous Door of the Sun. What It is also very interesting is Tiwanaco village, whose church was buit in 1612, with material extracted from the ruins. Return to La Paz. Night.
4th Day: On time transfer to the airport or station.

COPACABANA – SUN ISLAND
Full Day
Departure from La Paz, sorrounded by the Real Snow Mountains, we will arrive to Copacabana, a colorful Andean town at Inca´s Sacred Lake shore and place of the sanctuary of the Brunette Virgin. Departure from the pier towards the Island of the Sun, where according to the tradition emerged Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo emerged to build the Inca Empire. In this place there are still remains of the old civilization appreciated in Yumani stairs, the endless youth, agricultural platforms, Pilkokaina, etc.

SALAR DE UYUNI
3 days-2 nights
In the dessert of Sud Lipez, close to Potosi city we find the most important reserve of lithium of the planet. Located at 4.000 m., this salty sea reaches the 10.000 km2, and in its interior it is possible to visit the “Fish Island” (due to the shape it has) populated of cactáceas, bromeliaceus and acuatic formations, this proof that this place was under the water centuries ago. In the surrounds we appreciate multicolor lakes, geisers, extinguished volcanos, thermal waters, fumaroles, acuatic fauna, etc.

1st Day: Departure from La Paz towards Uyuni on a private bus (the trip lasts 10 hours). Arrive in the town of Uyuni and then at the lodge in the salty sea. Night in the Salt Hotel.
2nd Day: Walk around the salt extraction, watching the impressive blocks of this reserve. We will continue to the Fishing Island, visit and return to the Salt Hotel.
3rd Day: Departure for Uyuni and then for La Paz.

LA PAZ/ PUNO / (Peru)
Full Day
BUS: Departure from La Paz, until the Huatajata area, in the Titicaca Lake. We will cross the straits of Tiquina and arrive in Copacabana. After finishing with the migration paper work we will continue to Puno passing by Pomata, Juli and Chucuito towns.
ALISCAFO AND CATAMARAN:
Departure by bus for Huatajata at the shore of the lake to get the Aliscafo or Catamarán that will take us to the Island of the Sun, a place in which according to the legend the Inca Empire founders appeared. The trip will continue and we will enjoy the landscape of the lake until Copacabana, and then we will continue by bus to Puno.
